The PSC inspection report presents a picture of the ship inspected on a given day. The inspection and the deficiencies noted are recorded in the ship's file on the database. When rectification of deficiencies occurs at a later date, the inspection report that showed up the deficiencies remains relevant since it reflects the state of the vessel on that day. Therefore the information recorded at the time of inspection will remain in the PSC database as it is. The new situation of the ship will only be shown when a Paris MoU PSC officer next inspects the ship. However, a detention will remain with that vessel for the rest of its trading life.
