On 5 and 6 October the first Paris MOU High Level Forum took place in The Hague. Almost 60 representatives from the maritime industry discussed the importance of port State control and the need for harmonization of port State control standards world wide.

There was wide spread support for the Paris MOU initiative to develop a Distance Learning Programme that will help to achieve this aim.  This aim was expressed in the text printed below
Several organizations gave their support for the programme and promised both financial and material support to complete the Distance Learning Programme.
The organizations that have actively committed their support are represented through their company logos.  Organizations who will give their support at a later date will be included.

Port State Control is the safety net for the maintenance of marine safety, security and prevention of pollution in compliance with the International Standards.  Competent and well trained PSC officers are important for a successful, competitive and safe maritime industry.

The undersigned organisations have committed themselves to work with the Paris MOU and provide material, funding or other resources to develop, support and introduce new training systems which enhance the training of PSC officers both within the Paris MOU but also world wide.
